Over two Monday evenings in June, small business owners from Talent and Phoenix gathered at the Talent Community Center for a hands-on social media workshop series facilitated by Lanessa Pierce of What to Do in Southern Oregon. Sponsored by the Talent Business Alliance, the free two-part event aimed to help local entrepreneurs take control of their online presence—no matter their experience level. The workshops drew a diverse crowd of small business owners ready to improve their digital marketing skills.

Lanessa walked participants through everything from the basics of Instagram and Facebook to advanced strategies for analyzing user data in Stories and Reels.

Workshop Highlights:

Photography Tips – How to take professional-quality photos using just a phone camera

Instagram and Facebook Basics – Creating posts, crafting captions, choosing hashtags, and tagging

Analytics – Understanding who’s engaging with your content and when to post for best results

Scheduling Tools – Learning how (and when) to use Meta Business Suite for planning ahead

Stories & Reels – How to create video content that grabs attention and builds brand awareness

In addition to technical training, the workshops created a space for local businesses to network, exchange ideas, and ask questions. Attendees appreciated the open Q&A, where they could ask specific questions about their own social media challenges and get tailored advice from one of the region's best.
